RSS - the Web 2.0 Glue
So how do you keep track of all this information? Information you never knew you wanted. Too much information. Fortunately, we have RSS. It can give you at least a sense of control.
RSS Overview
- Real Simple Syndication
- Allows you to subscribe to feeds available at blogs, wikis, news sites, etc.
- A feed is an XML file that indicates when a web site has been changed.
- Web sites with a RSS feed will often have a little icon that says RSS, RSS 2.0, Atom, XML, feed, or subscribe.
- Using an aggregator, such as Bloglines or Google Reader you can track and read updates from dozens to hundreds of sites from a single web site.
- Look at this video for a short explanation.
